Job Summary
The engagement of the LGA facilitators will support and ensure effective coordination, and monitoring of the implementation of all activities under the GPE_AF and ECW II work plan. The LGA Facilitators will be responsible for real-time monitoring, data collection, reporting, sharing feedback on program implementation, and ensuring resources are utilized judiciously for intended purposes.
Job Details
1. Support the planning, and implementation of GPE_AF, ECW II, and other EIE activities at the State and LGA level in collaboration with an implementing partner; Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEB), State Ministries of Education (SMoE) and State Agency for Mass Education
2. In consultation with the Education Specialist, conduct secondary and primary data collection and cross-sectoral analysis, preparing and disseminating key education responses to guide the activities in line with the Adamawa State Policy on Education
3. Maintained up-to-date and accurate records/database on UNICEF education program implementation across the three output areas at the state and LGA levels to ensure effective and timely information reporting as required.
4. Conduct quality assurance activities at State, LGA, Community, and School levels to ensure the quality of the implementation of interventions under the guidance of the Education Specialist
5. Work closely with MOE, SUBEB, SAME, and LGA officials to ensure timely implementation of safe school standards, the framework of action to reduce out-of-school children, improve learning outcomes, and EMIS digitization.
6. Maintain database on key education targets using tools provided by the UNICEF Education section.
7. Regularly communicate with UNICEF Field Office education staff on activities and discuss issues of concern on the implementation of projects and any other duties
8. Document lessons learned and best practices, producing monthly stories on GPE_AF and ECW II, including Human Interest Stories and Picture stories at least twice a year.
DELIVERABLES:
Monthly work plan detailing how key tasks will be conducted uploaded and submitted
Timely submission of bi-weekly activity progress reports and emerging reports on specific interventions
The facilitator is to spend 40% of the time on reporting and 60% on the field for monitoring supportive supervision
Monthly report upload and submission
Quarterly Human-Interest Stories and Picture Stories
Monthly analysis of teachers' monitoring report
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- A first Degree in education, social sciences, economics, or related fields
- Computer Literate
- Fluency in English language and good English writing skills. Fluency in Hausa, the language of the immediate environment where the Facilitator is deployed.
- At least 3 years of experience and demonstrated ability in supporting capacity development work in education.
- Experience working on gender issues and extensive knowledge and skills in education and social sectors in Nigeria preferably in northern Nigeria.
- Experience working in a humanitarian context is an asset.
- Skills in the use of Microsoft Office suites are a must.
- Experience working with UN or NGO programs/projects is an asset.
- Good understanding of community involvement and participation.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, to varied audiences, especially in the target state and LGA.
- Able to work effectively in a multicultural environment, set high standards for quality of work, and consistently achieve project goals.
